Update on what’s going on:

I am currently packing for my big move in… three weeks! (Though really it will take me 4 weeks to move)
I am also in the midst of relocating our website at a new address. I need to inform weardrobe, move all the previous posts, and make it shiny and new.
So give us a few days!

Shopping trip!

Today, I wore leggings in the perfect use; that is to say, they were worn as hosiery, not pants.

It was very hot though; so hot, in fact, that I didn’t take a picture of my sweltering self today.

I did however find some great buys while out shopping: a purple wool pencil skirt from Banana Republic ($9.99!!!), an Anna Sui top from Anthropologie I had seen weeks ago for too much money (now $30!!), dark jeans I am not unhappy with (courtesy of Express), purple tights ($4) and some great elbow length leopard print gloves (for $8) from Younkers. [This is of course excluding the three pairs of shoes I found today - though in my defense one was shipped and arrived today, so I didn't buy them all today. Besides, I returned a dress I ordered online that was too big so had a big credit on my card. And I have no clue what to wear with one pair, but they were so beautiful and a bargain ($25 instead of $109) from a brand I love (Poetic License).]

The lesson in terms of shopping today is that it is a great idea to buy out of season; so long as you don’t plan dramatic weight loss/increase before the next season. For you see, I have just stocked up on some great winter items for cheap!

I am still looking for a leather satchel bag that I love… Oh internet, don’t fail me now!

What I am craving right now!

relic tote bagA big, bold tote-like purse. Leather or leather-like. Something making a bold statement as to the fact that I am such a grown-up lady. I want to haul all my things in there, and never go needing anything that is not in there. I want something chic, that says: “New York City Book Editor”! (Not that I am that, butI want a purse that says something of equal importance and sophitication)

yves saint laurentThis adorable perfect dream clutch: the super cute YSL postcard clutch.  I had the chance to buy one for a fraction of the price (that is, for about $500) but I balked at the price. I will now forever more be doomed to stalking eBay and other bargain sites for something remotely close to this treasure. Sigh.

peanut-butter-cookiesPeanut butter cookies. I made some really tastey ones last night and brought some downstairs with me tonight. They sing to me through their gladware casing, crying for love, for my lips, for their ingestion. Did I meantion they’re delicious?

[Insert image of ideal shoe here] I want flat boots that reach over the knee. They can be worn very skankily, but I think that is largely due to the three-inch heels that accompany them typically. I have yet to find said perfect boots; they should have a very low if not flat heel, be a practical color like black, brown or purple, and not fit snugly about the thigh. I can imagine throwing them on one fall day with a dress, scarf, gloves and hat and going off. (With my tote-like shoulder bag in tow, of course)

And more things, but this post was very superfluous with hardly any content at all!

The good news:

1. I have purchased batteries today. Hopefully, they will work, if not my darn camera is broken and I will steal my father’s, which he never uses.

2. My computer has been restored to its working self, for the most part, although any further updating will take place this weekend at the earliest. Hopefully, I will have posted once or twice.

3. Since I couldn’t make it through all of June, hopefully, July will be better. Truly, it must be.

4. I am thinking of renaming the site, and am open to suggestions. Perhaps something French – but then I fear I’ll need a total remodel of the site. Not that I’d mind, of course.

Why I haven’t been online:

This is just a list of (good?) excuses as to why there have been no posts recently and might not for a little bit:

1. My laptop was apparently in need of total reinstallation of EVERYTHING and is still in the process of being repaired (as it has been in this status since Sunday).

2. My digital camera apparently only works with batteries that are not rechargeable and completely deteriorating to the environment. Thus, I have not yet been to the store to buy said non-green batteries yet.

3. It was my birthday, and instead of being clothed and taking a picture (not that I could have really, since the battery and laptop situation has been going on since Sunday and my birthday was Monday) I stayed home in my pajamas all day playing Guitar Hero. Although they are actually new and cute pajamas, I didn’t think they were post-worthy.

Hence, I do not expect to post again until Saturday at the earliest. Sorry folks.

No picture today – it was rough.

So instead of posting a picture of my ill clothes (I practically fainted twice for no other reason that I can figure than the weather), I am going to talk about things that I really want.

Now typically, I would not recommend copying anything that Lady Gaga wears, but I would adore a pair of those short gloves, cut off right before the wrist. They are simply adorable, especially the ones with the bows on them. They would look so cute with a retro sheath dress, or trendy cool with dark jeans and some short sleeve or sleeveless dress top, or maybe even a casual one. I am currently hunting down a pair on eBay, or some other affordable sight, since they are truly not available in stores that I can tell.

I am also looking for an outfit which would permit the wearing of those trendy pixie/granny boots everyone seemed to crave a few months ago. I cam across a magnificent pair at the Goodwill, but I have no idea what to wear them with – the best I come up with is some ’80s tastic jean skirt/legging combo, and that would not end well.

Today I did dig up a great bee pin for my hair, and an awesome hat/headband. I look forward to wearing them, and looking “trendy and cute” (a rave I have heard at work).

June 7 2009

So today is a cop-out: the weather here has been awful for the past 3 days and the storms at night make my dog keep me up to insane hours.
Granted I put on clothes today to go to work, but it was my most boring outfit yet.
I think this may mark a rule that there will be no updates on Sunday, unless I am going to a spectacular event.

New June’s resolutions 2009

As one third of the writing crew for the Fashion Herald, I now announce that this blog must begin!

I intend to begin with the first real post and accompanying photo on June 1st.

Let the other authors begin and participate as they wish.
