I am wearing: a pink high waisted pencil skirt from Express, a patterned v-neck tee shirt from Express, a red patent belt from Forever 21 and my red Keds.
And I know what you’re thinking: pink and red do not match”; but they do! Actually, it is one of my favorite combinations of red, the other being with purple, although the “Red Hat Society” kind of ruined that color combination for anyone under the age of 50. Actually, for everyone who ever wanted to mix red and purple.
I was out running errands today, and it was really hot, so I pulled on this skirt, instead of jeans. I am getting this skirt tailored tomorrow, so I hope I will no longer have to pin it and create a huge bulge on my hip. The combination of a high waisted pencil skirt with a brightly colored belt is a combination inspired by one of my best friends, MTN (name is protected for privacy reasons). She would always combine her bright green pencil skirt with a yellow belt; so spring, so fresh! So here I wanted to combine my pink skirt with a bright color. I felt that red worked best, considering I was intending to wear my Keds, and also the fact that it is a greatly underused color combination. It is bright and vivid, and actually looks very cozy in the winter. Plus, I love having accessories “clash” with the actual outfit: red dress, pink purse; pink shirt, red shoes; etc.
The shirt is the one I wanted to wear yesterday, but could not because of work restrictions. But it served my purpose well enough, I suppose: some guy in a convertible waved at me and smiled and I laughed and laughed and drove off.

These earrings are not as big as the picture leads you to believe. They are, of course sizeable, being the remnants of my oversize earring-ed youth, but they are a neat pattern, which I don’t feel is childish. Had I enough hair, I might even subscribe to the slicked back ponytail, big sunglasses and huge earrings philosophy. Instead, I hide these puppies in my hair.
